How Split PDF works
There are three ways to break a PDF apart. Custom ranges turn sections you choose, such as "1-3, 4-10, 11-12", into separate files. Fixed interval splits every N pages, for example to separate each student's two-page report. Split every page turns every page into its own PDF.
The tool shows how many parts you'll get before you start. When there's more than one file, they all download as a single ZIP, with page numbers in the file names.
Frequently asked questions
I only want a few pages. Which tool should I use?
If you want to pick some pages and make a new PDF from them, Extract Pages is quicker: click the pages you want or select all odd or even pages.
Why are the parts bigger in total than the original?
Shared resources such as fonts and logos are copied into each part. If the parts need to fit a size limit, shrink each one with Compress PDF.
Is Split PDF free? Do I need an account?
It’s free and there’s no sign-up. We don’t ask for an email address and we don’t put a Yeti watermark on your file.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. The file is processed in your browser’s memory on your own device and is never sent to Yeti’s servers. The limit is 25 MB and 200 pages per file.
