How Upscale Image works
Enlarges images 2× or 4× with AI. An ordinary enlargement only stretches the pixels and blurs the image; the Real-ESRGAN model in this tool rebuilds edges, textures and lettering for a sharper result. It’s ideal for small product photos, old digital photos and low-resolution logos.
The model runs entirely in your browser: your image never leaves your device. The model and runtime (about 12 MB) are downloaded the first time. In browsers with graphics card support (WebGPU) it takes a few seconds; without it, large images can take a few minutes. The result can be at most 24 megapixels.
Frequently asked questions
Does the AI add detail that isn’t there?
The model produces realistic texture, but it can’t recover unknown information: an unreadable licence plate won’t become readable. Faces and small text may look different from the original, so compare carefully for anything important.
The upscaled file is huge. What can I do?
Upscaling multiplies the pixel count by 4 or 16. Shrink the result with Compress Image, or bring it to exactly the size you need with Resize Image.
Is Upscale Image free? Do I need an account?
It’s free and there’s no sign-up. We don’t ask for an email address and we don’t put a Yeti watermark on your file.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. The file is processed in your browser’s memory on your own device and is never sent to Yeti’s servers. The AI model runs in your browser too; it is only downloaded from our site the first time you use the tool. You can choose up to 20 images at a time, 25 MB and 24 megapixels each.
