Frequently asked questions

Is Yeti free?

Yes. All 55 tools are free during the beta. You don’t need an account or an email address, and no Yeti watermark is added to the files you download.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. The PDFs, images and Office files you choose are processed in your browser’s memory, on your own computer or phone. The one exception is the HTML to PDF tool when you enter a web address: the address is sent to our server so it can fetch that page. Details are on the privacy page.

How can I check that myself?

Open your browser’s developer tools, switch to the Network tab and process a file: you won’t see an upload request carrying your document. There’s a step-by-step walkthrough in this guide.

What are the limits?

Up to 20 files per operation, 25 MB per file, 100 MB in total and 200 PDF pages. How long an operation takes depends on the file and on how fast your device is.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. It runs in any up-to-date Chrome, Safari, Edge or Firefox on phones, tablets and computers, with nothing to install. The Scan Document tool can use your phone’s camera, if you allow it, to scan pages straight into a PDF.

Can I search text in a scanned document?

Scanned pages are really pictures. OCR PDF recognizes the text on the page and adds an invisible text layer, so you can search and copy it. It supports English, Turkish, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Arabic, Dutch and Portuguese.
