Compress image to 50 KB
Drop your photo; Yeti adjusts the quality, and the pixel size if needed, to bring the file under 50 KB.
How to compress an image to 50 KB
Yeti first keeps the pixel size and sets the JPG or WebP quality to the point where the file just fits under 50 KB. If that isn't enough, it scales the photo down step by step and keeps the highest quality that fits. Non-transparent PNGs are converted to JPG so they can reach the target; transparent PNGs stay PNG.
50 KB is a very tight limit, usually asked for passport photos, signatures and profile pictures. Phone photos go down to a few hundred pixels at this size; faces and text stay recognisable. Cropping the photo to just the part you need first gives a clearly better result.
If the form also asks for exact dimensions (for example 600×600 pixels), set them first with Resize Image, then compress here. To stay safely under the limit, 1 KB counts as 1000 bytes.
Frequently asked questions
What if the photo can't get under 50 KB?
Yeti gives you the smallest file it can reach and shows its size. GIF and AVIF files are left as they are; convert them to JPG first.
How much quality is lost?
Yeti picks the highest quality that fits the target and only scales the pixels down when quality alone isn’t enough. You can check the preview before you download.
Is location and camera data kept?
Not in photos that get compressed: re-encoding removes metadata such as location, date and camera details. A photo that is already under 50 KB is left untouched, metadata included.
Is my photo uploaded to a server?
No. Compression runs entirely in your browser; your photo never leaves your device.
