Cookie policy

This page explains how Yeti uses cookies and similar information kept in your browser, and how you can change your choice. The files you choose, their names and their contents are never written to cookies and are not sent to advertising or analytics partners.

What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser. Local storage keeps information in your browser in a similar way, so this page covers both.

What is used on which pages?

  • Tool pages and any screen where you process files: no cookies or third-party scripts; a strict security policy makes the browser block them.
  • Info pages, including this one: no cookies are written.
  • Home pages and the blog: Google AdSense and Google Analytics run here, and their cookies are used only with your permission.

The Yeti server does not set cookies; there are no accounts or sessions.

This table is based on Google’s documentation and may change as Google changes it. Current lists: Google advertising and measurement cookies and Google Analytics cookies.

Information kept in this browser

The following are not cookies; they stay in your browser so the site works or a feature you asked for works, and they do not depend on consent.

What is keptWhyHow long
Your cookie preferenceTo remember your choice12 months
Theme, language hint and mascot choicesTo remember your preferencesUntil you clear site data
Statistics preference and counting datesCookieless usage statistics (see the privacy page)Until you clear site data
Last 100 operation status codesSupport report; never sent automaticallyUntil you clear site data
Saved signatures, name and comment author nameInformation you saved; not sentUntil you clear site data
Files you drop on the home pageTo carry the file to the tool as it opens; not sentAt most 2 minutes

How is your consent asked?

  • European Economic Area, United Kingdom and Switzerland: Google’s certified consent management platform asks. If you do not consent, no cookies are written; Google Analytics may send only cookieless measurement signals, and non-personalized ads may be shown.
  • Other countries: the site’s own cookie prompt asks when you first open a home page or the blog. Until you choose, and if you do not allow it, Google Analytics is not loaded and no ads are requested.
  • In browsers that send a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, Google Analytics is not loaded at all; outside Europe no prompt appears and no ads are requested either.

We tell these apart by your browser’s time zone, which is not sent to the server. The AdSense script loads on these pages but requests no ads unless you allow it. You are asked again after 12 months. Rejecting does not affect the tools.

Yeti’s own usage statistics use no cookies or identifiers, so they do not depend on the cookie prompt. You can turn them off with the box above; details are on the privacy page.

Changing your choice

You can change your choice at any time with the “Cookie preferences” link in the footer or the button above; when you withdraw permission, we delete the Google cookies on this site’s domain. You can also delete or block cookies in your browser settings, and the tools keep working. See also Google Ad Settings and the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
