How PDF to Text works

Extracts all the text in a PDF as plain text (TXT). You can preview it before downloading or copy it all to the clipboard. With "Add page separators" on, a "Page N" heading is written before each page, so it's easy to see where the text came from.

When you need the words without the formatting, for an AI assistant, a translation tool or a notes app, this is the cleanest route.

Frequently asked questions

Can I get text out of a scanned PDF?

Scanned pages contain no text. Run OCR PDF first, or use its option to export the recognized text as TXT.

Why is the text jumbled in two-column documents?

PDFs don't store reading order; text is sorted by its position on the page. In multi-column layouts, some lines may come out in an unexpected order.

Is PDF to Text free? Do I need an account?

It’s free and there’s no sign-up. We don’t ask for an email address and we don’t put a Yeti watermark on your file.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. The file is processed in your browser’s memory on your own device and is never sent to Yeti’s servers. You can choose up to 20 files at a time, 25 MB each and 100 MB in total.
